Friedrichshafen Airport to St. Christoph Transfers From €380 per vehicle

The highest place we drive to

St. Christoph stands at around 1,800 metres, on the summit of the Arlbergpass itself — higher than Zürs at 1,717 metres and some five hundred metres above St. Anton in the valley. The journey starts at 400 metres on Lake Constance: in an hour and a half you gain fourteen hundred metres of altitude without changing vehicle once.

The only resort with two ways in

Every other village on the Arlberg has exactly one approach from the west. Stuben is reached up the L197, Zürs and Lech along the Flexenstraße, St. Anton through the tunnel. St. Christoph sits on the pass itself — which is why it can be reached from above, over the pass road, and from below, through the tunnel. Which of the two we use is decided by the state of the road on the day you arrive.

Which resort the transfer serves

St. Christoph am Arlberg is a handful of buildings either side of the pass road and belongs to St. Anton — the same municipality, the same lift pass, the same ski area. Staying at the top of the Arlberg

For skiing, St. Christoph is the highest address on the Arlberg. From the hotel door the same ski area lies in front of you as from St. Anton, only five hundred metres higher up: the same pistes, the same lifts, the same lift pass. Staying in this resort means staying above the bustle and still skiing all of it.

Winter and summer transfers

Most of our Friedrichshafen transfers run in winter, when the skiing is on. In summer it is the same road and the same price, only quieter — and the pass road, sometimes shut in winter, is then the finest way to come up here.

Ski transfers to St. Christoph

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall at Friedrichshafen, holding a sign with your name. There is nobody to ring and no meeting point to find. Friedrichshafen is a compact regional airport with one terminal and the car parks directly in front of it, so the walk from the door to the vehicle is a short and convenient one.

The same driver takes you the whole way. He loads the cases and the ski bags himself and is still with you when you arrive in St. Christoph — no handover halfway, no second vehicle.

Arriving with equipment

With skis, boot bags and cases, the door is the whole difference. Everything is loaded once at the airport and unloaded once outside your hotel — nothing is moved in between, not onto a platform and not into a second vehicle. At 1,800 metres that counts double: nobody wants to walk the last part here with luggage. That door-to-door service is what you are booking. Tell us with the request how many ski bags are coming and the rear rack is fitted before you land.

In St. Christoph the address is quickly found. The place is a handful of buildings either side of the pass road; there is nothing a vehicle cannot reach, and nobody has to carry ski bags the last part themselves. You arrive at a door rather than at a stop. Transfers are available all year, on any day and at any hour, including the hours when no bus runs.

There are four realistic options, and which of them is the affordable one depends on how many of you are travelling and how much luggage is travelling with you.

St. Christoph has no railway station. The nearest is St. Anton am Arlberg, about seven kilometres away and five hundred metres lower, on the main line through the Arlberg. A rail journey therefore finishes with a road connection up the pass whatever else happens — and those last seven kilometres are exactly why the train works less well here than it does for Stuben or for St. Anton itself.

By bus, Friedrichshafen to St. Christoph involves the most changes of the four. A rental car earns its keep if you plan to drive during the stay; if it would sit outside the hotel all week, a private transfer saves you the winter driving across a border, the climb to 1,800 metres and the return of the car on the morning of the flight home.

The four options, side by side

Of the four options, the private transfer is the only one with no change of vehicle: one car, one price, your door. For ski groups the comparison is rarely close — four people with skis pay one fare between them, while every other option charges each of them separately and asks them to move the equipment themselves.

Four hours is the rule for this airport. For Innsbruck we leave three and a half hours before, and for Zurich four and a half. The way back takes the same road as the way in, in reverse — and when the pass is shut it goes down to St. Anton and through the tunnel instead.
